ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Master of Business Administration (Tourism Management) is a two-year full-time residential sectoral Program. Each academic year consists of three trimesters, leading to the granting of a Degree in MBA (Tourism Management). The first year of the program encompasses core courses that provide an understanding of the fundamental concepts of management theories and practices across different functional areas. The first-year coursework is mandatory for all students, followed by a summer internship for a period of six to eight weeks, during which students are required to work on tourism and related projects.

In the second year, students are offered sector specific core and elective courses to specialize in their domains of interest. Students can select their preferred elective courses, provided they fulfil the minimum credit requirements for the Program. Students who successfully fulfil all the requirements of the program are awarded the Degree in MBA (Tourism Management).

The curriculum pedagogy comprises a combination of lectures, flipped classroom sessions, case studies, online resources, fieldwork, project assignments, lab sessions, etc. The sectoral program offers core business knowledge and management skills, including aspects pertaining to Tourism Businesses and Market Disruptions, Entrepreneurship, Destination Planning, Tourism Resources and Product Development, Airlines and Air Transport Management, Policy and Legal Issues, Tourist Behavior, Hospitality Management, Tourism and Travel Operations and Analytics, and various emerging courses that are regularly updated in consultation with industry professionals.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

MBA (Tourism Management) aims to enrich the students who are keen to develop their career and knowledge in the Tourism industry. The Programme intends to provide special emphasis on familiarizing students with actual ground level operations, its business strategies and marketing of tourism products and services.
