Dr. Sumagna Bhowmick had a background in Applied Psychology, particularly in Organizational Behavior (OB) and Human Resource Management (HRM). She completed her MPhil-PhD from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, where her research explored the role of emotions in delivering negative performance feedback (PhD) and the impact of emotional labor in policing (MPhil).
She served as an Assistant Professor at K J Somaiya Institute of Management in Mumbai, where she taught postgraduate courses in areas such as Talent Assessment, Competitive Decision Making, Organizational Behavior, Leadership Development, Human Resource Development, and Performance Management.
Dr. Bhowmick contributed to research by publishing papers in international peer-reviewed journals and writing “thought leadership” articles in leading media publications. Her work examined different aspects within the broader OB and HRM domain.
Beyond academics, she designed and conducted training programs for corporate leaders, government officials, and members of the armed forces. She also participated in several leadership and employee engagement initiatives, including serving as Chairperson of the Employee Welfare Committee and contributing to the Center of Excellence for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. As the faculty head of the Humanist Committee, a student-led HR committee, she mentored students and guided HR-related initiatives, including overseeing the publication of HumanistIQ, a magazine featuring articles from industry professionals and students from various business schools.
