Central and state governments across India are observing 31st October as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The decision to observe the special day was taken by Narendra Modi government in 2014. The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India. The government is celebrating the day all over the country with a vision to foster and reinforce dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation.
IIM Sirmaur also observed 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October 2017. Day started with an introduction on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by Prof. Vaneet Kashyap. Prof (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, while addressing the gathering highlighted the greatness of Sardar Patel and importance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations in the country. She paid him tribute by describing him as embodiment of strength and integrity. He was one of the architects of India. She emphasised how as a public servant it is our duty to work for unity, integrity and security of our country. By taking the pledge today we will move one step towards achieving above said. This was followed by pledge by faculty and staff members
