IIM Sirmaur Celebrates 74th Independence Day
Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur celebrated 74th independence day with full of joy and enthusiasm. While the faculty and staff of IIM Sirmaur joined the celebration in person, the students and family of faculty/staff joined the celebration in online mode. Guidelines were strictly followed because of COVID-19. The celebration began with a guard of honour to the Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur. This was followed by flag hoisting by Prof Rohmetra.
In her Independence Day address to the IIM Sirmaur fraternity, Prof Rohmetra shared her experience of taking IIM Sirmaur to greater heights. She emphasised the importance of time and pointed out that a nation is not just a geographical boundary but the relationship that we build with each other to help evolve as society. Building IIM Sirmaur is synonymous to building a nation and it is a homage to our freedom fighters, she stated. She explained that for anyone to succeed in life, the first step is to refine the thought process and strive to find opportunity to contribute for the wellbeing of the society. She explained the importance of welcoming difficulties in one's life because this gives an opportunity to know oneself. It takes continuous introspection to progress in life. She thanked all the members of faculty and staff who worked hard to keep the running even during the lockdown and appreciated all their efforts in making the Foundation Stone Laying ceremony of the Permanent Campus at Dhaula Kuan a huge success. Prof Rohmetra extended independence day greetings to everyone and expressed how much she missed the students in the campus.
Earlier, the celebration witnessed several performance by the IIM Sirmaur fraternity, both in online and offline mode. A competition was organized by the cultural committee of IIM Sirmaur in which the students of IIM Sirmaur were invited to submit their entries in the form of recorded performance (Dance, Song, Poem Recitation etc). The performance of winners was screened during the Independence Day celebrations and simultaneously viewed by the students in online mode.
Towards the end, awards were presented for outstanding performance of duties. Shri Dharamveen Singh awarded with a cash price of Rs 5100 for exemplary performance of duty in keeping the miscreants away from IIM Sirmaur campus. Shri Virender Dhiman awarded with cash price of Rs 3100 for serving his duty with dedication during COVID-19 lockdown situation, in ensuring that the salaries of all the faculty and staff are disbursed timely. Ten corona warriors of the institute (security and housekeeping staff) were awarded with cash prices who served the institute during lockdown period and thereafter continuously working for the sanitation and security services of IIM Sirmaur. The award to corona warriors is sponsored by Prof Rohmetra. As a token of appreciation, 26 faculty and staff members of IIM Sirmaur awarded with Mementos who successfully organized IIM Sirmaur's foundation stone laying ceremony on 04 Aug 2020 and performed their duties on ground during challenging situation of COVID-19 pandemic.
