Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur signs MOU with CPWD
As one of the major milestones since its establishment, Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur signed on March 06, 2019 Memorandum of Understanding with Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Government of India for construction of its Phase I of Buildings and Infrastructure of permanent campus at Dhaula Kuan, District Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. The ceremony was held at Kendriya Sadan, Chandigarh in the presence of Professor (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, Sh. S.K. Roy, Additional Director General CPWD, Sh. K.C. Singh, Chief Engineer CPWD Retd. (Col.) Dinkar Hiteshi, Project Consultant IIM Sirmaur and Sh. Rajesh Dhiman, Chief Architect. Among others present on the occasion were senior officials of CPWD, Chandigarh Circle, Faculty and Staff of IIM Sirmaur. MOU was signed by the Administrative Officer, IIM Sirmaur and Executive Engineer, PGIMER, CPWD on behalf of the respective institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur expressed her gratitude to the Board of Governors, MHRD Government of India, and Government of Himachal Pradesh for all their support in the process of formalising and setting up the permanent campus. Director also urged upon CPWD for quality construction within the given timelines set under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) defined by the MHRD. Further, ADG, Sh. S.K. Roy and the Chief Engineer, Sh. K.C. Singh assured all support and compliances in the construction and the development of the permanent campus.
The Ist phase of the project has been approved by Government of India for the operationalisation of the permanent campus for construction of an area of 60,384 sqm for student strength of 600 at a cost of Rs. 392.51 crores. 210 acres of land has been allotted for the construction of the permanent campus at Dhaula Kuan, District Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. The Ist phase of construction is expected to be completed by 2021-22. The infrastructure creation under Ist phase includes Hostels, Dining hall complex, student activity centre, satellite shopping complex, student canteen, Director residence, Faculty residences, Staff residences, Faculty Club, Community Centre, Commercial facilities for staff, class room complex, faculty office building, computer centre & communication service telephone exchange, virtual learning centre/audio visual centre, central library, Auditorium/Conference Centre, MDP, Administrative complex, Engineering workshop, Incubation Centre, Guest house, Health centre, and Electrical substation.
In this connection, as a defined process by MHRD, Government of India, Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) has approved the non-recurring capital amount of Rs. 392.51 crore loan for the construction of Phase I of the permanent campus. It is pertinent to mention that the complete full-fledged permanent campus has been envisaged in 3 phases at a total cost of over 700 crores in 210 acres of land allotted to IIM Sirmaur at Dhaula Kuan, Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. The Architect Planner/Consultant has been finalised and the final` architectural designs shall be approved soon to host and reflect the vision of a world class institution in the form of buildings, spaces and artefacts of the #Himalayan IIM: Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur.
Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur is a statutory and autonomous institute under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, which aims to provide Management Education of high quality and promotes allied areas of knowledge as well as inter-disciplinary studies. Established in 2015, over a short span of three and a half years IIM Sirmaur has been able to carve its niche in terms of seeking corporate attention and industry interface. Further, the students of IIM Sirmaur are doing extremely well which is reflected through finalisation of 100% Summer Placement for the Batch 2018-20 in February 2019. The 3rd Batch (2017-19) is convocating in April 2019, wherein the MBA Degrees as per the IIM Act shall be awarded.
