Constitution Day Celebration at Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur
On 26th November 2019, Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur celebrated 70th Anniversary of the adaption of constitution of India. The celebration began at 11 in the morning with the LIVE TELECAST of the commemoration function of Samvidhan Divas from the parliament which was addressed by Hon'ble President, Hon'able Vice President and Hon'ble Prime Minsiter of India. Subsequently, the preamble of the constitution was read by faculty, staff and students present in the event. The entire event was coordinated by student volunteers Kushagra Tripathi secretary CSR club-Sankalp and Suhas Jirgi-secretary T&D cell. Towards the end, the student co-coordinators distributed brochures of Constitution Day among the students to create awareness about fundamental duties.
Further, on this momentous occasion, under the guidelines of the MHRD, Sankalp and T&D Cell of IIM Sirmaur organised 'Constitution Day Debate' competition. The debate competition was centred on following topics:
- Should NOTA rights continue to be exercised in our Nation?
- Should Voting be made a Fundamental Duty?
A total of fourteen students from first year and second year batch participated in the debate competition and gave their constructive opinion for the motion as well as against the motion. Mohammed Sameer HM received first position, followed by Rahul Singh securing second and Rajat Shrinet securing third position. Cash prizes worth Rs 5000 were distributed among winners in the order of -Rs 2500 as First prize, Rs 1500 as Second and Rs 1000 as third prize. The debate competition was judged by Prof. SashiKant (Faculty, IIM Sirmaur) and Mr. Shailendra Nath (CAO, IIM Sirmaur).
