Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur cordially hosted Mr. Ashish Kumar, manager at ICICI, one of our esteemed alumni, for the guest lecture series Reminiscence, organized by the Alumni Cell, on March 5th, 2023. Mr. Kumar spoke on the topic “Transition from B-School to the Corporate World.”
Mr. Kumar highlighted how important it is to develop skills during an MBA. He also mentioned the significance of a first job and its valuable experience. He asked to stay open to different opportunities and said, “The more you learn from the opportunity, the better experience you get.”
He then moved to the culture of organizations, mentioning how there is a different kind of culture in start-ups and long-term organizations. The former is aggressive, while the latter is stable and people-oriented. But he also stated that startups are useful in enhancing skill sets because of their multiple responsibilities.
Further, he said that opportunity is always in front of you through a YouTube video and asked to have the mindset of achieving a target.
