Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur organized a webinar on 24 June on the theme: Financial Analyst's Recommendations prior to a Firm Specific Stock Price Crash. Dr. Harminder Singh, Associate Professor and Director Executive Education (International) at Deakin University, Australia addressed the participants on the aforementioned topic. Professor (Dr) Neelu Rohmetra Director IIM Sirmaur expressed her gratitude to Dr. Singh for taking out time from his busy schedule to deliver a valuable session to the students of IIM Sirmaur. She commended IIM Sirmaur team for their relentless efforts for not letting the COVID situation get the better of us, instead, utilising the opportunity to bring such enterprising academicians from around the world like Dr. Singh to keep the students engaged.
Earlier, Dr. Pradipta Patra, Assistant Professor in Decision Sciences and Chairperson Programmes, IIM Sirmaur welcomed Dr Singh and emphasised on the significance of such sessions and its high relevance due to the stock market crash during the Covid-19 outbreak. The session explored the road mostly not taken to understand the Financial Analyst's Recommendations prior to a Firm Specific Stock Price Crash. Dr. Singh sensitised the realm of extensive research methodologies and their surprising observations on the topic including some very important statistical methods to analyse stock price volatility. His talk had a tinge of behavioural finance as well, which changed the audience way of perceiving stock price movements. Towards the end of webinar, he also addressed the most concerning doubts of the students regarding the role of Financial Analyst and encouraged the students to pursue their own analysis and master the skill.
