SWACHHTA PAKHWADA 2018
Swachhata Pakhwada is an initiative started by Government of India in April 2016 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata across nation. IIM Sirmaur participated in Swachhta Pakhwada 2018 with great enthusiasm by starting Waste Management drive as part of the Swachhta Pakhwada. The institute observed fortnight from 15th September 2018 to 2nd October 2018.
IIM Simaur took various initiatives for the identification of waste, waste segregation, waste disposal. This will be an ongoing activity and we are working towards making the campus plastic free. Pollution caused by improper disposal of waste is a big cause of concern. This awareness programme will motivate everyone to inculcate waste management in their culture and help understand the importance of waste disposal.
As a first step, students actively participated in spreading awareness among the cleaning staff, mess staff, administration and faculty of the institute about the waste management initiative.
Slogans with message on keeping surrounding clean were placed across the campus.
At IIM Sirmaur Swachhta Pakhwada 2018 ended by commemorating 150th Gandhi Jayanti. Mahatma Gandhi, father of nation was a great propagator of cleanliness. He was very much concerned about the dirty roads, streets, and specially, slum areas of the country. He always emphasised the need to educate villagers on good hygiene and sanitation. Following his footsteps and teachings faculty, staff and students of IIM Sirmaur visited nearby slum areas and created awareness among residents about personal hygiene and clean and green environment. Residents were gifted with cleaning equipment to help them to keep their surroundings clean.
It is the duty of each and every citizen of the country to keep the nation clean or swachh and we at IIM Sirmaur believe in the same.
