The students of IIM Sirmaur attended a guest lecture delivered by Mr. Sankalp Saini, AVP, External Relations & Corporate Affairs, at Home Credit India Finance on 2nd December, 2017. Mr. Sankalp started the lecture by explaining what is meant by a crisis. He gave the students a broad understanding of crisis management and its various facets. Crisis management in his words is The process by which an organization deals with a disruption or an unexpected event that threatens to harm the organization, its stakeholders or the general public. He further went on to throw light on the process of preparing a crisis management plan, and also dwelled in detail about the three stages of the crisis management plan. He ended the session with a case study on the 2015 Maggi crisis and how Nestle was able to overcome it. This was followed by a Q&A session. According to Mr. Krutikesh Javir, a student of IIM Sirmaur, the major take away from the session was the learning about disruptions that can be caused by unanticipated crises and the steps to construct an effective communication plan in case of a crisis situation.
