MDP for the Officials of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur, completed five-day intensive Management Development Programme (MDP) on Role of Creative Thinking, Innovation and Leadership in Organisations from 23rd to 27th September 2019 for the officials of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. at its Paonta Sahib campus, H. P.
The customized programmed was focussed on top-executive level capacity building for the managers and engineers of Power Grid Corporation drawn from all over India. The prime objective of this programme was to train the participants in creative thinking, innovation, leadership, building influence, conflict management, and development of negotiation and persuasive skills required for leading futuristic organizations. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Director, IIM Sirmaur, who also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of People Skills in leading the large organizations. Prof. Vikas Kumar, MDP Chair, congratulated the participants for making a commitment toward their learning and professional growth by traveling from all corners of India to participate in this programme.
Prof. Sanjay Singh (Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management area, IIM Sirmaur) was the Programme Coordinator and the lead resource person who took sessions on creativity, innovation, leadership, decision making, and conflict management. Using an interactive Harvard Business simulation on Decision Making under Crisis Situation along with case studies, psychometric tests, and experiential exercises he exposed participants to develop a deep insight in their behavioral styles, decision biases, personality, and leadership potential. The programme also witnessed special sessions from external experts. Prof. Santosh Rangnekar, Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee, took sessions on managing power and politics and building influence in organizations, while Mr. Abhra Banerjee, Vice President and SBU Head, Havells India Ltd., took sessions on building a culture of excellence in organizations. All the participants highly appreciated the unique teaching-learning approach through various sessions consisting of a highly interactive mix of HBR Cases, Simulations, Role Play, Perspective Taking, experiential exercises, and insight building sessions.
The five-day programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants and facilitation of Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Sr. DGM (HR) Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., by the Director Prof. Neelu Rohmetra. Mr. Verma expressed deep satisfaction about the content, delivery, unique methodology, and excellent hospitality by IIM Sirmaur. In her concluding address, Prof. Rohmetra urged the participants to understand the value of experimentation, creativity, and innovation in building organizational excellence and keep learning to upgrade their skills in the future.
