As part of a series of institution-building measures, Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur hosted a two-day intensive workshop on "Building a World-Class Institution: Pre-requisites and Differentiators" on November 12 and 13, 2017. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Darlene F. Russ-Eft, Professor & Chair, Adult Education and Higher Education Leadership, College of Education, Oregon State University, and Dr. Maria Cseh, Associate Professor, Human & Organizational Learning, Graduate School of Education & Human Development, The George Washington University.
The workshop was conceived by Professor (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, as a way of forging collaborations with eminent international faculty so as to internationalize IIM Sirmaur. Opening the workshop, Dr. Rohmetra emphasized the centrality of global exchanges in the strategic vision of IIM Sirmaur, in addition to the development of innovative diversified curricula. The first day of the workshop was attended by all members of the faculty at IIM Sirmaur. The morning session examined the challenges of creating a world-class higher educational institution, with the facilitators weighing in on organizational issues from their own extensive experience. The post-lunch session dealt with aligning the demands of research publication with pedagogical and administrative commitments. The second day of the workshop consisted of an interactive session on "Grooming students as Global Professionals: Cross-Cultural Competencies for the International Market." It exposed students to current trends in international management education as well as to strategies for building capacities that provide an edge in the global market.
