IIM Sirmaur conducted Management Development Program on “Art of Connecting with People and Building Relationships” for the officials of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID)- a 'Maharatna' Public Sector Enterprise of Govt. of India from 17th to 19th March, 2023.
Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur successfully conducted a 3-day long customized Management Development Program (MDP) on “Art of Connecting with People and Building Relationships” for the officials of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID), Schedule 'A', 'Maharatna' Public Sector Enterprise of Govt. of India from 17th to 19th March 2023 at IIM Sirmaur Temporary Campus.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Prafulla Y. Agnihotri, Director, IIM Sirmaur, Prof. Ajay K. Singal, PGP Chairperson and Prof. Shashi Kant Srivastava, CMDP Chairperson on 17th March 2023. During the presiding address, Prof. Prafulla Y. Agnihotri, Director, IIM Sirmaur, highlighted that interpersonal relationships are significant for organizational excellence and foster long-lasting connections at the workplace.
The MDP focused on three modules: Day-1 focused on the ‘Art of Connecting with People’, Day 2- on ‘Interpersonal Styles and Dynamics at Workplace’ and Day 3- focused on ‘Developing Effective Relationships at the Workplace’. The training modules were designed and customized for the holistic development of the ‘Officials’ of POWERGRID. The program was designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms for assessing their interpersonal skill sets that differentiate outstanding leaders from the average. Also, the focus of the MDP was to illuminate the significance of social and emotional intelligence in building strong and harmonious relationships in the workplace. Additionally, the program helped the participants to understand the role of nurturing positive workplace culture in fostering trust, integrity, and loyalty among employees.
Faculty in OB & HRM Area- Prof. Rinki Dahiya and Prof. Parul Malik conducted various training sessions for the participants. The MDP topics include- the art of connecting with others and enhancing assertiveness, understanding and applying transactional analysis, managing different interpersonal orientations, styles, and behavior at work, profiling individual skills for developing adaptability for relationship building and establishing positive relations at work. This program helped the participants to assess their ‘self’ behavioral patterns and improve their interpersonal orientation with others.
During the valedictory ceremony, Sh. Alok Ranjan Pradhan (Assistant Manager- HR Powergrid) addressed the gathering. He briefed about the learning, knowledge, and skills acquired by the participants at IIM Sirmaur. Further, he highlighted that such MDPs are essential and must be conducted at IIM Sirmaur in the near future as well. Further, many participants shared their valuable experiences regarding the MDP.
Towards the end, Prof. Rinki Dahiya and Prof. Parul Malik, Programme Director(s) and Faculty in OB & HRM Area at IIM Sirmaur, presented a vote of thanks and congratulated all the participants for the successful completion of the MDP. They appreciated the inquisitiveness and active participation of the officials throughout the program. They recommended that idea of “I am Ok and You are Ok” is essential for building harmonious relationships at the workplace. Thus, one should always strive for building positive interpersonal relationships.
