73rd Independence Day
The celebrations of the 73rd independence day at IIM Sirmaur started off with the flag hoisting by The Director of IIM Sirmaur, Prof. (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra. The recital of the national anthem and the sight of the doves taking their course to freedom, after she flew them away, portrayed independence and peace. A lamp lighting ceremony by the Director, faculty, and the students took place which added to the auspiciousness of the occasion.
The Director addressed the gathering with an agenda to emphasize the responsibility of everyone towards the society. She said that our intentions to do good or to serve, need only small numbers to push themselves forward into the society. Great words by her, telling that true strength lies in the mettle and character of the few than in the numbers of many. She also urged the students to contribute to the society by applying their knowledge and, in turn, glorify the institution. Later, the event witnessed a plethora of activities including dances, skit, singing and instrumental performance by the students. The atmosphere imbibed patriotism as the gathering concluded the event by singing the national song and reciting the national anthem.
