IIM Sirmaur Celebrates Republic Day
Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIM Sirmaur) celebrated 72nd Republic Day of India with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event started with a guard of Honour to Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Honble Director, IIM Sirmaur in the transit campus of the institute at Rampur Ghat Road, Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. The Indian tricolour flag was unfurled by Professor Neelu Rohmetra in the presence of faculty, staff and students of IIM Sirmaur.
Later, Faculty staff and students gathered in the auditorium of the institute to celebrate and honour India's constitution and spread the power of unity. Those students who were not on the campus joined the celebrations in online mode. During her address Professor Neelu Rohmetra congratulated IIM Sirmaur fraternity on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day of India. She talked about the rights and duties bestowed upon by our Constitution. She further elaborated upon the essence of the patriotic spirit and how one can always contribute to the upliftment of society and the nation in varied ways. I feel pride when I get this opportunity to hoist the National Flag Tiranga of our Great Nation, beneath the vast and open blue sky.
When I see the sky, I get inspiration to always perform better and better. Taking our Institute IIM Sirmaur to newer heights is one of the core duties of each one of us associated with it, she said. She motivated the gathering by saying that wherever we live or in whatever conditions, we should aspire and always try to fulfill our duties faithfully . She also said that we should never lose our confidence because of our mistakes. The people who sit back thinking that they may commit a mistake will actually lose an opportunity to learn. There is no success without attempts. She also spoke about healthy criticism which gives an opportunity to correct oneself on time. Our constitution gave us the right to equality and the right to liberty. We should respect each other, understand each other and work wholeheartedly, Professor Rohmetra emphasised. When we work for a noble cause, God will bring good people to join us in achieving that. We are here at IIM Sirmaur deputed to contribute to the building of this nation and the institute, and we should always strive to do justice with our task assigned with, she said.
The celebrations also witnessed marvellous cultural performance by a few members of the staff and student community. The event management committee of the institute chaired by Prof. Ram Dhurkari organized the celebrations. Prof. Rinki Dahiya, co-convener of event management committee gave the vote of thanks. The celebrations were anchored by Mr Arjun Raj, a first-year MBA student of the institute.
