IIM Sirmaur Celebrates Constitution Day
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sirmaur celebrated constitution day on 26 Nov 2020. IIM Sirmaur fraternity joined online to listen to the reading of preamble by the Honorable President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind. Honorable President led the nation in reading the Preamble of the Constitution of India on this occasion.
IIM Sirmaur also organized a special talk on the topic Constitutional Values & Fundamental Principles of Indian Constitution on the occasion of celebration of Constitution day. The guest talk was delivered by Prof. D S Sengar of IIM Lucknow through online mode.
Prof. Sengar spoke on different types of laws offered by the constitution of India. He also shared with the students the importance of developing the legal awareness during their MBA programme. How to draft documents or reports so that there is limited scope of getting it challenged in the court of law is extremely important. The students must know the legal terminologies before they complete their MBA programme and join corporate world, he emphasized. He also elaborated on the fundamental principles and the fundamental rights conferred by the Constitution of India to every citizen of the Country. Constitution is an agreement among people of this country irrespective of their religion, age, sex, status, position, caste and creed, he said. He advised the students to follow the preamble of our Constitution. He also enlightened the participants about the constitutional pillars of India. Justice for everyone is one of the important aspect of the constitution of India. Law is like a torch, it just requires button to enable us to see the possibilities, he explained. Prof. Sengar concluded his talk by emphasizing that the students at IIM Sirmaur are its ambassadors, and if they follow law it is something like leading by example.
Speaking on the occasion, in her presiding remarks, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur congratulated to the entire IIM Sirmaur fraternity on this day. She explained that the Management is all about having good understanding of situations, which impact delivery of decisions. She also motivated the students to try to understand the situation from a holistic perspective. We should not be constrained just by our own views, she said. She also emphasized on developing a careful understanding about our rights and duties. If we keep performing our duties in a committed manner, we can avoid problems. Our actions should revolve around the sense of larger contributions in a duty-bound manner, rather than by over emphasized short lived hollow achievements. The direction should be clear, the attitude should be positive and the objective should be constructive, she said.
The online session was attended by IIM students, faculty and the staff.
