About Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) being motivated by the vision of transformational amendment in rural development processes works with a vision to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India. In Himachal Pradesh, Ajauli, Kunja, Danda, Dobri and Jamniwala are the IIM Sirmaur UBA adopted villages. UBA at IIM Sirmaur (Id: S-15911) aims at working with the people of UBA adopted villages in detecting development challenges and developing appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth. It also targets to have an interactive association between the adopted villages and the institute by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and to upgrade the capabilities of the rural people. With this objective, UBA at IIM Sirmaur in collaboration with CSEM has conducted several seminars and activities on sustainability, waste management, organic farming, air pollution and climate change, clean energy production, soil science and forestry, and undertook various initiatives such as, vaccination drive, plantation drive etc. to make rural people aware and develop good practices that help in uplifting the society as a whole.

About CSR

 Sankalp, the students CSR Committee of IIM Sirmaur, is the embodiment of the Institute's spirit for significantly contributing to society. The committee addresses a wide variety of social issues and enables each member of the student body and the IIM Sirmaur family at large to become responsible toward society and become socially conscious citizens.

In the backdrop of the second wave of Covid in the country, the CSR team collaborated up with Donatekart and contributed towards a donation drive in the month of May to provide oxygen cylinders to those in need. It was ensured that every contribution, small or large, was directed to those affected. Sankalp conducts every year a "Cloth Donation Drive" for nearby slum areas where clothes were collected from students on the campus. This allowed the students to contribute to the happiness and wellness of people around them and interact with them and understand the underprivileged in society. Other major activities organized by the CSR Committee during an academic year includes Guest sessions by award winning individuals in social sector, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, World Environment Health Week, 'UDVEG: Run for Unity’, etc.

In association with the Centre for Sustainability and Environmental Management, Sankalp has undertaken various initiatives including rural visits, blood donation camps and UBA village activities. Sankalp intends to be a juggernaut of positive societal growth and an agent for change. The community outreach initiative strives to remain true to its slogan 'Sowing Hope into Lives' and make IIM Sirmaur an institute that cares.
