Sierra'19 - The Annual Management, Sports and Cultural Festival of IIM Sirmaur
January 19th 2019 marks the beginning of Sierra, IIM Sirmaur's 1st ever inaugural Management, Cultural and Sports Fest. Backed by an eclectic list of partners, the festival is packed with a variety of competitions and activities to the satisfaction of the students from the best B-schools and other institutions of the country.After an action packed opening day adorned hard fought matches, drama and emotions, the day of the Fest was highly sought after.
The day's proceedings kicked off with formal inauguration of the fest and auspicious lamp lighting ceremony by the Director of IIM Sirmaur, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra and faculty members. In her address to the students, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra started off by congratulating the Organizing Team of Sierra. She touted Sierra as an Occasion of Festivity and shed light on the grooming opportunities that are associated with events of magnitude as high as that of Sierra's. She further accentuated the significance of maintaining an optimal balance among Classroom Learning, Festival experience and personal interaction with the Stakeholders of the Institution. She reminded the students of their responsibilities as the Brand Ambassadors of the Institution tasked with the responsibility of carrying the Legacy of the Institution forward. She further emphasized the significance of building a culture of shared responsibility that entails both the Students and faculties alike to work shoulder to shoulder. Negative sources can't dismantle courage, determination and will power. She mentioned how courage has a direct bearing on change as it takes great courage to accept and effect change. She closed her inspiring Speech by acknowledging and admiring the efforts of everyone involved in making Sierra'19 happen.
The Speech was followed by a flash mob that witnessed students from IIM Sirmaur deliver an exhilarating performance. The cynosure of the day were the much awaited Hip Hop International Auditions that saw some of the best emerging dancers from all corners of the country dance their hearts out. Apart from the continuation of the Sports tournaments that commenced the day before, the TT tournament also got up and running with participation from the best B-schools and other institutions of the country. Day saw students battling it out at case study competitions conducted by the various student clubs of IIM Sirmaur. These include Marka-Wars (Marketing) and Stock Wars (Stock Analysis) where participants from reputed institutions of the country participated. Additionally, a financial literacy workshop is being organized to equip participants with this essential knowledge for the future, under the tutelage of industry experts.
The closing day of Sierra 19 saw the culmination of 3 Management Events namely Ophzeus (Operations), Cognizance (Consulting) and Apple-o-nomics (Finance). A highly discerning workshop on Finance Finance Literary Workshop was also organized for the students. Day 3 of the fest also featured a solo singing competition. The Sports fixtures featured matches from Football, Cricket, Badminton, Throw ball, Chess, Snooker, TT and Powerlifting. The main event of the day Sunburn campus, Asia's biggest musical extravaganza will feature Candice Redding, one of the fastest growing artists in the Indian independent music scene.
