Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur celebrated National Unity Day on the occasion of 145th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on 31 Oct 2020. The faculty, staff and students of the institute joined together in online mode to mark this event and take National Unity Pledge.
Professor Neelu Rohmetra Director IIM Sirmaur during the event asked everyone to strive to work for the unity and integrity of the nation. She said that as soldiers are securing our borders and similarly we can also contribute to ensure peace and harmony in the society. She also said that Sardar Patel is known for taking hard decisions. Decisions are perceived as hard when we cannot satisfy everyone with our decision. However, all decisions have to be taken by focusing on the larger good of those who were likely to be impacted by these. Such decisions are always positive, and bear long term results for betterment of society and systems. She also narrated the importance of Unity in Diversity in nation building.
Earlier, the faculty, staff and students of IIM Sirmaur took the national unity pledge. First year MBA student Arjun Raj explained the significate of the day. He also threw some light on the life of Sardar Patel and his contribution on integrating our nation. The event concluded with some beautiful poems written on Sardar Patel and his philosophy which were recited during the event by the students of IIM Sirmaur. The event was organized by the event management committee of IIM Sirmaur.
