IIM Sirmaur hosted an intensive day long workshop on GST Training and Compliance on October 11, 2017. Conducted by GST expert CA Amber Agarwal from Asija and Associates, LLP., from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the workshop was highly interactive and informative. Attended by all faculty and members of staff, the workshop was split into two intensive sessions. The first session provided a comprehensive overview of the new taxation regime, highlighting the ways in which it is different from the previous mechanisms, while the second session provided an in-depth look into the ways in which GST will impact educational institutions, and how they can maintain compliance. CA Agarwal explained the minutiae of the ways in which the new unified tax regime and compliance with it will continue to impact the operation of a growing institute like IIM Sirmaur. Faculty and staff of IIM Sirmaur actively participated in the workshop. Given the fairly large amount of material covered, it was felt that such workshops, live demonstrations and training programs significantly furthered attendees understanding of practical topics and should be continued to keep both the administration and faculty members abreast of evolving issues.
