International Immersion Programme - Ljubljana, Slovenia
2016-18 batch of PGP students at IIM Sirmaur are in Ljubljana, Slovenia for an international immersion programme jointly organized and facilitated by the International Center for Promotion of Enterprises (Slovenia), IIM Lucknow and IIM Sirmaur.
IIM Sirmaur celebrated Constitution Day of India on 26th November 2017. Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Divas’ is celebrated every year on 26th of November to commemorate the adoption of Constitution of India.
On November 28th, 2017 IIM Sirmaur organized its first Academia-Industry Meet (AIM 1.0). The event provided an opportunity to the PGP participants to interact and exchange ideas with the eminent personalities from the local companies of Sirmaur.
The students of IIM Sirmaur attended a guest lecture delivered by Mr. Sankalp Saini, AVP, External Relations & Corporate Affairs, at Home Credit India Finance on 2nd December, 2017. Mr. Sankalp started the lecture by explaining what is meant by a crisis.
Mr. Tiwary talked about his corporate journey, his startup and the lessons learnt. Through the interaction the students gained better perspective on the startup culture, barriers involved, inventory based business model, entrepreneurship and key challenges to growth and expansion.

Mr. Partho Dasgupta

On 4th September, 2017, The students of the second batch of IIM Sirmaur had an interactive session with Mr. Partho Dasgupta, Chief Mentor, Reliance Industries Limited. He encouraged the students to develop a holistic approach and think beyond the pecuniary aspects of their professional life. He also emphasized the importance of ‘unlearning’ and relearning in the 21st century. Reiterating Alvin Toffler, he said that today’s world sees ‘too much change in too short a period of time’. The students participated enthusiastically. They inquired about the qualities that the corporates seek from young managers. Mr. Dasgupta highlighted how today’s managers are primarily ‘people-handlers’ and how a deep understanding of the grass-root helps them. The interactive session with Mr. Dasgupta allowed the students to have a fair understanding of the recruitment scenario across industries.

He introduced the proposition that ‘Focus’, ‘Faith’ and ‘Fire’ are the innate characteristics of any child. These when coupled with knowledge give rise to capabilities.
Basing his case upon the GROW model, he said that setting SMART goals, aligning them to the realities of the external environment, choosing the best among available options and working towards the proper implementation of the path picked define a leader’s character and his/her leadership acumen.
The session revolved around the role technology has played in changing the way business is done around the world. He touched upon the modern-day technological revolutions of Artificial intelligence, Bitcoin and the Internet of Things and the impact they are likely to have on the world economy in the years to come.
The session came to an end with a Q&A session before he reflected upon on his successful career as a marketer, having worked with some of the biggest names in the industry,suchas, PayUmoney, CEAT Tyres and Marico

Lt. Gen. Kochhar highlighted the importance of having a clear vision by stating that one must be clear about what he/she wants to achieve in life. He urged the participants to think beyond placements. While delivering an insightful perspective of what corporate expects from IIM pass out, Gen. Kochhar explained how being associated with an IIM provides the well-earned leverage. He emphasised on the importance of negotiation skills and the need to ‘market’ oneself.
